Waste Management Procedures

Waste management shall mean an activity focusing on the prevention and minimisation of waste generation and decreasing their hazard for the environment and waste handling compliant with the waste act.There are many obvious areas where use of materials and management of waste are linked. They share many of the same driving forces such as population, affluence, levels of consumption, and the state of technology. In general, the higher the use of resources, the higher the emissions and the more waste generated.
The EU’s waste management policy

EU waste policy has evolved over the last 30 years through a series of environmental action plans and a framework of legislation that aims to reduce negative environmental and health impacts and create an energy and resource-efficient economy
Moving towards a recycling society

In some Member States, recycling and recovery are the predominant waste management options, with use of landfills being reduced to negligible amounts, whereas other Member States still use landfills for the majority of their waste. It will be a crucial task in the future to move these Member States up the waste hierarchy to achieve the EU’s goal of becoming a recycling society.

Project WASTRE

The project is aimed at the preservation of natural resources and the environment, supporting the implementation of advanced technologies of waste treatment, disposal and recycling through the creation of an on-line system of distance learning, in order to enhance the knowledge, skills and competencies of the employees in various branches of industry, agriculture and public authorities , SME managers, VET students and the unemployed with the intention of improving their possibilities on the labour market in the field of the most progressive technologies of waste treatment, disposal and recycling. Sustainable Development encourages the conservation and preservation of natural resources and of the environment. Waste represents an enormous loss of resources in the form of both materials and energy. The target group of the project WASTRE are the employees in various branches of industry, agriculture and public authorities , SME managers, VET students,the unemployed and with the intention to improve their possibilities on the labour market. Many often live in regions located far from traditional educational centers. Traditional education models based on classical methods of one way communication is not sufficient for them. It is vital to focus their education on interactive creative methods and techniques based on activation of the learner, concentrated on a model of learning with prevailing both-way communication.
